Ultimate Tonk rules
  • Five cards per player, standard 52-card deck, no wild cards. Aces are low and worth 1; numbered cards their value; J, Q, K are worth 10.
  • You must ante to receive cards. Choose the dealer flip position 1–5 before cards are shuffled or dealt.
  • Optional flip: bet against other players on the dealer’s chosen card. Low is A–6; high is 8–K; 7 pushes. At least two bettors on opposing sides are required. The dealer may opt out. Losing stakes are divided proportionally among winning stakes, and winning players retain their own stake. Multiple deal bonuses cancel the flip along with the hand.
  • Only on the initial deal: 13 or lower, four face cards plus a 9 (49), or five face cards (50) win double the ante from every other player. Tens are not face cards. 41 is not a bonus.
  • If more than one player has a deal bonus, the hand is a draw and antes are returned.
  • At the start of your turn, drop or draw from the stock or top discard. After drawing, spread, hit, then discard one card. You cannot immediately discard the card just taken from the discard pile.
  • A spread is three or four equal ranks, or a run of at least three consecutive cards of the same suit. Aces are low; runs do not wrap from King to Ace.
  • You may hit any existing spread with cards that extend its set or run. Emptying your hand by spreading or hitting pays double from each other player. Going out with a final discard pays single.
  • Dropping wins a single ante from each opponent only if your remaining points are strictly lowest. Any player tied with or below you catches you: pay each catcher double the ante.
  • If the stock runs out, the hand is a draw and antes are returned. Table chips are separate practice balances.

Each seat starts with 1,000 practice chips. Ante & deal pays your ante before dealing. Computer seats ante automatically. The dealer’s card position locks before the shuffle. Flip bets are optional. Low A–6 · High 8–K · 7 returns all side bets.
