Game Rules
Bourré seats 4–7 players. Each player puts an ante into the pot. Cards are dealt one at a time until each player has five cards.
The dealer turns the last card face up — that card becomes the trump suit and is part of the dealer's 5-card hand.
After looking at their cards, players may drop out and forfeit their ante, or stay in.
If staying in, players may stand pat (keep all cards) or discard for replacements: up to 4 cards with 4 or fewer players, up to 3 cards with 5 or more players.
The player to the dealer's left leads by playing a card face-up. Each player must follow suit with a higher card if possible.
If you have no cards in the lead suit, you must play a trump card. If unable to follow suit or play trump, any card may be played.
The highest card of the lead suit wins the trick — unless trump is played. The highest trump wins.
Play continues until all five cards are played. The player winning the most tricks wins the pot.
If two or more players tie for most tricks, the pot carries over to the next hand and the tied players do not ante.
If a player wins zero tricks, that's a "Boo" — the player must match the pot and pay the ante for the next hand.
After a Boo, the deck is shuffled and play begins again with a new ante from all players who did not tie or Boo.
Survival mode: pay a side bet before the hand. If you get a Boo, the side bet covers the pot match — you still pay the next ante.
